Over the years I have been told to stick with solids when referring
to what's in my closet. My grandmother taught me that patterns and prints are
never pleasing to the eye on a plus sized (or better yet, full figured) woman.
Well Grandma, I am saying this in the least disrespectful
way possible . . . POO ON YOU!

Why should playful patterns and prints be for those of a
taller and smaller build? Pish-posh! I'm going to wear them! And for all of
those ladies that were told not to wear them wither "you gon' learn
today!" (in my best Kevin Hart voice).

When wearing patterns and prints, it's all a balancing act.
Don't jump in immediately with an overzealous attitude, because you'll end up
looking in the mirror feeling uncomfortable and losing confidence by the minute.
Then you'll abort the look, take the piece back to the store, or worse take it
to the back of your closet and hide it there (been there, done that).

No, it's all about balancing proportions. For instance, try
a medium size print under a blazer with a dark pair of jeans at first. Want to
punch it up? Try denim in a bright color. Want more? Try a solid top with a
patterned bottom. Mix and match until you feel confident.
