This past weekend Raleigh hosted SPARKcon, a four day art exposure explosion. They had everything from street painting and live music, to flow yoga and a water fight. If there was any weekend to visit the Triangle, this was it! I decided to roam the streets on Friday, just in time to see the artists begin their street paintings.
First I stopped by the local boutiques (sizing up the competition) and then strolled around the corner to find chalk art. The colors, the creativity. I loved it all! I wanted to enjoy SPARKcon from a tourist's perspective of Southern Charm. I donned a simple frock, a string of pearls, and a wide brimmed hat. I'm ready to view the city and be viewed by it.
While dressed as a "lady" I've seen Nintendo's Samus, an astronaut, a woman with her hair on fire, and a chalk-toon version of Ke$ha.
One of my favorite moments included meeting a mermaid and asking about her costume and make up. I could lie and say, "Halloween is coming and I need some ideas", but I'll tell you the truth: If you see me wearing this ocean inspired head dress, don't be shocked.
