Last week, I had the privilege of leaving my home to get some much needed fresh air. For some reason after you have a baby, people believe that you need to be locked away in the house for about a year. I know I'm over exaggerating, but really I need to get out of here!
I have been itching to get out of the house to specifically go to the State Fair. I called her pediatrician and got the green light to go. They told me to keep her covered up and not to touch the livestock. I mumbled to Ana, "Welp, there goes your opportunity to pet the goats."
The problem was, once I knew Stacie's due date (October 16th) there was a huge chance that I wouldn't be able to go to the the fair. I prayed that she would get here a few days early or a few days late. Why you ask? The fair's opening day was on her due date. Perfect timing Stacie.
I hadn't been to the NC State Fair since I was in school. The last time I had gone with a few friends. I had a ball, and tried a fried Snicker bar for the first time EVER. One word, three syllables: Uh-May-Zing! I didn't know that people created diabetes causing snacks that mix both funnel cake batter and the candy bar that brought you
Happy peanuts soar
Over chocolate covered mountaintops
And waterfalls of caramel.
Prancing nougat in the meadow
Sings a song of satisfaction
To the world.
And, to top this, they started dipping everyone's favorite chocolate and vanilla cream cookies, into the batter. That's right... fried Oreo's. The purpose for my existence (not really, but hey).
This was my main focus and reason for attending and partaking of the festivities. I NEED FRIED OREO'S! With my OB/GYN's blessing, I set off in hot pursuit of my treasure.
One of the best days to attend would be CAN DAY! The day when the entry fee is waived if you bring 5 cans of food that are donated to help the hungry. That's win-win if you ask me. The other great day to attend would be the last day. Everything's half off. Is it packed with people? Sure is! But that's okay, because I gained entry by offering up a sacrifice of a few canned goods (hope you guys like creamed corn).
While at the fair, Tre played a few games. He had a great time! Sure it was a bit noisy, and it distracted him from the fun for a little bit, but once he saw the games, life was good once more. He played darts for the first time in his life and won himself a bear. Then he played bingo won on his first try there too! He walked away 25 toy cars richer...and on his first go round. He seriously has the Gilmore winning gene (I swear his father wins every game he plays...I think he cheats) All in all it was an awesome day filled with food, fun, friends, and family.
Don't have access to fried Oreo's but you're DYING to try the deliciousness?
No fear! I've found a recipe for you poor unfortunate souls.
