You heard me. My new lipsticks aren't from Sephora or Ulta. They're not from MAC or Belk, they're not from Target or Walmart, they're not from Walgreens or CVS. My new favorite hues of purple are from the corner beauty supply store.
Clutch my pearls, right? I strolled in the store looking for some synthetic hair to do my Senegalese twist (now that the postpartum hair shedding has ceased and desisted). I was there longer than usual, because I had to match my new color. As I was checking out, I saw a bunch of matte lipsticks in several different shades. I prayed they would have a navy blue....but alas ...no luck. That's fine, because I've found a few purples that have rocked my world.
Digging my Ariana Grande ponytail? Either way, this is one of the lippies that I've fallen for. It's matte and is well pigmented. I'm not so sure about its staying power, but I can add a finishing powder on top to lock it on.
This is the same exact color, but in a high shine finish. Lovely! Something that's just as pigmented and glossy as my Maybeline Color Elixir, but it's half the cost. Plus, this is more of a plum shade rather than the purple they offer. (Which I still love...don't get it twisted!)
Last, but most of all not least, THE BEST MATTE PURPLE IN THE WORLD!!! Everyone who knows me, knows that I was on the hunt for a purple to defy all purples. I believe this is the one. I love it!
Now, the brand from which they came from is a brand I've passed over several years ago. I was in college and I purchased a few of their nail polishes. They flaked within hours, so I vowed to never purchase another thing from this line. Now, 6 or 7 years later, I'm drinking the Koolaid. I've matured and refined since 2007, why can't they? The company I'm speaking of is Ruby Kiss. The colors are Matte Plum Wine, Lip Lacquer Purple Berry, and Matte Purple Affair. Just Gahw-geous. Absolutely stunning.
