Family First: Whats Wrong with Nail Varnish?

"What's wrong with nail varnish?" A small child is confronted by her mother who then runs down a list of all the things that said child is wearing, from nail polish, to eyeshadow, and finally lipstick. The little girl responds with multiple sighs and eye rolling that could reach the heavens. And then, she opens her mouth and lets out, "It's not lipstick, it's a lip gloss." How did this little human manifestation of the ever so sassy Peppa Pig, speak to her mother that way? After watching this video on Facebook, it made me ask a few questions. One being, why isn't this little woman being hung by her ankles? The second is, are we raising brats?

I paint Lilly's nails and dab on bright pink lipstick often. What can I say? She sees me being a lady, and she wants to be like me. And I'm the type of lady that performs self cucumber facials, and enjoys cooling eye masks. I wear perfume and run around singing, "I Enjoy Being a Girl." I really do that. So why would I stop her from being a girl, too?

The comment section had cheers for this mini-teen, saying she's "independent" and "strong willed". These are both great qualities...for an adult! She's a child. She needs to be respectful and obedient.

It's not the makeup that's made this child bratty. It's her perspective of adults, more specifically, her mother. She doesn't see her mother as her superior, she sees her as a peer. Equals. Teach the little monsters some manners and the varnish won't matter.

Until next time,
