5 Apps That Will Not Help You Conquer Your Resolutions...

Here is a list of apps I've built that are destroying my day.

1. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or any other social media app. Put the phone down. There's no need to check our FB accounts several times a day (Unless your job is on FB. If so...my bad. Proceed). So what you don't comment on your mother's cousin's step sister's video she re-shared of a cat on Vine within the first 2 minutes of it being posted. Let it go. There's plenty of other things that need your attention.

2. Youtube and Vine. Yeah. I love to watch videos just as much as the next person, but perhaps you should save them to a playlist and watch them during down time. I know it's hard to walk away from the entertainment, but think of it this way. Do you really have time to sit in front of a TV all day and watch anything that comes on? If you answered no, what makes you think trading the Boobtube for Youtube is okay? If you answered yes, get off of your couch you bum and get a job (or hobby).

3. Clash of Clans or Candy Crush Saga. Games in general are here to keep us entertained during dull moments. It doesn't matter what the game is, but it's purpose has been altered. We're no longer using these games for entertainment, instead we use them to ignore life. We're throwing ourselves into these games, offering up our time, and often our cash.

4. Email. It used to be considered productive if your email was open. I guess we used to believe it was a formal mode of communication. It still is in some cases. But, now, we're checking our gmails, yahoos, and hotmails too often. We're wasting time because most of the emails are junk. (Want to change this app back into something productive? Check your mail only twice a day...unless you're expecting something important.)

5. Pinterest. I know DIY-ers, moms, fashion seekers, and every woman on the planet are all calling me a hypocrite. I know, who am I to call out my fellow pinners? But, truth is, I find myself pinning items and then never going back to review what I've pinned. If many of you are doing the same, perhaps it's time to let it go...

Now for 5 apps that are productive:

1. Headspace. One cannot focus on projects when his or her mind is cluttered with so much information. You need to recoup and relax. Let your mind rejuvenate with a little meditation.

2. Todoist. This app is a list making, calendar filling, task managing platform. Perfect for inputting info, dating it, and then checking it off when you're done.

3. Noom Walking Pedometer. Want to conquer those health goals this year? Download a pedometer to track your steps. The average amount of steps the everyday American takes is somewhere around 5,000. Take a couple thousand more and you'll be heading in the right direction.

4. Google docs. Not exactly near the office or computer, but you need to get the work done? I know this app is no where near new, but create documents on the go, and then when you finally do get to the office, you're already done.

5. Pocket. Do you get distracted by articles, Facebook, websites.... Well, to stay productive, simply put all of those things in your pocket with Pocket, and read them later so you can stay on task right now. Once you review the article, archive it. Voila!

I hope these have helped you out, because I know they've helped me be more productive already.

Until next time,
