In November I made a list of things I want to accomplish (or at least start) before my next birthday. One of those things includes participation in events and organizations that help the community.
An opportunity recently made itself known. Mid January, I was informed of the discomfort that homeless women feel when they are dealing with their monthly cycle from a Huffington Post article. I said to myself, "Maybe I'll start keeping feminine care packages in my purse so if I see someone I can simply hand them out." Then a friend shot me a text dealing with the very same topic. She informed several people that she'll be collecting supplies through Carter Group NC to create these packages for the Helen Wright Center for Women . So, I shall help her in her efforts.
I am collecting:
Tampons
pads
pantyliners
feminine cleansing cloths
hand sanitizer
freezer/storage bags
If anyone is interested in donating please send me an email: TenishaJonece@gmail.com
These care packages may not seem like much, but providing these items to women in need may have a minor impact in our community, and a much stronger meaning to those who we're serving.
Until next time,
