#TurbanTieOff |
Last year around this time, I hosted a Holiday giveaway. There were quite a few swanky prizes that were given out. This year I want to do something, but I believe it should be different in nature. Let's backtrack:
When the weather was starting to change, I began to ponder, "What will be my protective style for the colder months?" I had considered crochet braids. They're cute, but I can't cornrow hair to save my life. Just a skill I've never mastered. That's going to suck for my little girls. So, unfortunately, this is a style where I would have to ask for assistance. Therefore, this "do" is now a don't.
So, what's my next move? I'm trying to keep away from braided styles because of the postpartum shedding. any extra tugging and manipulation will lead up piles of curls and coils on the floor. I also want to keep my hair safe from the wind and cold air. If I leave it out, I may as well kiss my moisturized kinks good bye. (Brillo pad status) So, I have decided to wear turbans and scarves. They're very cute, come in a lot of colors, and versatile.
I have a few friends who can really tie a turban and will be wearing them this winter as well. Simply throwing knots into a bandanna is not our idea of style, unless you're Rosie the riveter, Aunt Jemima, or in an episode of I Love Lucy (I'm lying, I would wear a bandanna). I feel like turning up the style on a simple piece of fabric wrapped around my head. I was going to challenge friend to a dual. Whoever ties the best turban has to purchase two new scarves for the winner's collection.
So here we are now. Instead of just challenging my friend, me and my mini are challenging anyone. Just recreate the styles that are featured on my social media accounts and post a picture on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #TurbanTieOff and tag me @tenishajonece I will supply you with a link that should give you directions.
I will then judge the entries and give away two scarves to the best tied turbans. (3 if you have a mini who participates...she doesn't have to be your mini...borrow a niece) There's a total of 10 styles, so good luck.
